Bowie, Md. – On July 9, 2026, TIA CEO Richard "Dick" Gust and Vice President of Government Affairs Roy Littlefield IV met with Jonathan Morrison, Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), at the U.S. Department of Transportation headquarters in Washington, D.C., where the Association presented Morrison with the TIA Leadership Award in recognition of his commitment to roadway safety and his support of TIA's inaugural Roadside Service Safety Week.
Earlier this year, Morrison recorded a public service announcement encouraging motorists to slow down, move over, and remain alert when approaching roadside service professionals. His participation helped amplify TIA's Roadside Service Safety Week campaign and reinforced the importance of protecting the men and women who work alongside America's roadways.
During the meeting, Gust and Littlefield thanked Morrison for his partnership while discussing opportunities to continue advancing roadway safety through collaboration between government and industry. The conversation included ways to increase public awareness of roadside safety, strengthen protections for roadside service professionals through enhanced Move Over laws, and promote innovative infrastructure solutions such as Rubber Modified Asphalt.

The meeting also included senior NHTSA representatives and reinforced the shared commitment between TIA and the agency to improving roadway safety through education, outreach, and collaboration.
